The archive database consists of a large number of digitised images and other information about Bishops Cleeve, which is being compiled by Mike and Sheila Ralls. The database, when completed, will provide a computer record of village life from the latter part of the 19th Century until the middle of the 20th Century. However, this record could not have been compiled without the generous donation of images and other information by village residents and others interested in recording this period of the village's history.

The archive is being stored in high resolution, low compression form in order to retain as much of the detail as possible and allow areas of the images to be enlarged. However, those pictures viewable from this site have had their resolution reduced to facilitate relatively rapid downloading.

Although this site is accessible from the Bishop's Cleeve Library, it is hoped that as the size of the archive increases, a point will be reached when it will be appropriate to transfer the full, high resolution version of the images to CD ROM - which could then be made available to the community via Bishops Cleeve Library.
